The majority of eye emergency cases result directly from an accident. There are, however, a number of emergency situations that are not related to trauma, but that require consultation with a healthcare professional.
Here is a list of some signs of an eye emergency:
- Sudden loss or decreased vision
- Suddenly seeing double blurry
- Red eye
- Abnormal light sensitivity
- Extreme pain
- Hardening of the eye
- Foreign object present in the eye
- Appearance of flashes or floaters that move within your field of vision.
- Infection
- Inflammation
- Dry eye
- Herpes
- Eye bleed or hemorrhages
